Padel Holidays Direct Team
Published 22/01/2026
If you have never played padel before, the idea of booking a padel holiday might feel intimidating. We hear this concern every week at our Manchester office — and our answer is always the same: our beginner programmes are specifically designed for people who have never held a padel racket. In fact, some of our most enthusiastic return guests started exactly where you are now.
Do I Need Any Experience?
Absolutely not. Padel is one of the most accessible racket sports in the world. The enclosed court (known as a "cage" or "crystal cage" in Spanish) means the ball stays in play longer, rallies are longer, and beginners can start having fun from the very first session. Our beginner holidays assume zero prior knowledge — we teach grip, stance, basic strokes, and court positioning from day one.
What Happens on Day One?
Your first day typically starts with a relaxed welcome breakfast at the hotel, followed by a 90-minute group coaching session. Groups are carefully matched by experience level, so you will be with other beginners — no pressure, no judgement. The coaching focuses on fundamentals:
- Proper grip and ready position
- Forehand and backhand groundstrokes
- The "bandeja" — padel's signature smash
- Basic court positioning and communication with your partner
Afternoons are free for exploring the destination, relaxing by the pool, or optional practice sessions with our coaching team.
What Equipment Do I Need?
We provide premium padel rackets for all guests, so you do not need to buy anything before arrival. If you do own a racket, feel free to bring it — our coaches can advise on whether it suits your developing style. We recommend bringing comfortable sportswear, court shoes with non-marking soles, and plenty of sunscreen.
Will I Actually Play Matches?
By day three, most beginners are playing structured match practice. These are friendly, coach-supervised games designed to build confidence and apply what you have learned. There is no pressure to win — the focus is on enjoying rallies, improving technique, and experiencing the social side of padel that makes the sport so addictive.
How Much Will I Improve?
Most beginners report a dramatic improvement in both technique and confidence after a week-long camp. Padel's learning curve is steep but rewarding — within five days, you will be holding rallies, executing basic smashes, and understanding court strategy. Many of our beginner guests progress to intermediate level within their first year, returning for advanced coaching camps.
